I'm happy to announce that Beebleville was chosen as a quarterfinalist for Comic Strip Superstar, an international competition hosted by and sponsored by Andrews McMeel Publishing (which owns Universal Press Syndicate) in search of the next popular comic strip artist!

The judges consisted of popular comic strip creators Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse), Scott Hilburn (The Argyle Sweater), Mark Tatulli (Lió and Heart of the City), G.B. Trudeau (Doonesbury), as well as Universal Press Syndicate editors John Glynn (V.P. of Rights & Acquisitions), and Lee Sales (President and Editor). One grand prize winner gets a publishing contract for a book with a $5000 advance, a development contract, and a shot at syndication.

Amazon posted a list of the 250 quarterfinalists (out of a possible 5000 entries) on the contest's website in .PDF format.

Even though I did not advance to the semi-finals I'm happy to have made it as far as I did and wish to thank everybody at Universal Press Syndicate for giving Beebleville a chance.

I knew I should have took Lynn Johnston out for dinner and dessert!
I could have buttered her up! :)

(Just kidding Lynn!)
